the zoological gardens
12:50 PM been quite long since i last updated and many things have happened. for one, Learning Fest was great class bonding time cos the zoo trip was superb! :D wed 25/7 Learning Fest day 1. had some performance thing in the morning and then headed off to the zoo after that... the part that we signed up for, the Behind-the-Scenes tour was slightly disappointing. it said we could see the zookeepers making food for the animals and so on but it was just a trip to the Animal Hospital (Wildlife Healthcare & Research Centre) and touring inside, which is, well, out-of-bounds to the normal visitor. i guess it was an eye-opener no matter what. saw blood stains on the floor of the hospital, might be some poor animal's and there were probably 81787480912748783748274 mosquitoes attacking the miserable creatures there. speaking about the mosquitoes, the girls got bitten by 10000 mosquitoes or much more, (im not exactly exaggerating) cos its like once you stretch out your hand to clap, 1 mosquito dies in your palm, and similarly, in less than 1 sec a humble mosquito will rapidly rush to your arm like there's some blood famine there and suck out the blood from your helpless soul. its almost like the Dementor's Kiss, but less complicated. HAH. =p after that it was over, shorter than i expected. then the class stayed on to explore the zoo while some people went back to school. it started raining, made it a horrible day to walk around. but luckily it wasnt that heavy, brought a raincoat but decided not to use it. lol. mostly the tourists using raincoats. hahah. basically gallavanted all around. saw species like the otter, tapir, babirusa, white tiger, pygmy hippo, warthog, kangaroo, wallaby, baboon (oooh i'll elaborate about this!), elephant, orang utan, lion, giraffe, polar bear, lemur, racoon, bat, peacock, zebra, cheetah, jaguar, hyena, rhino, snakes (cobra, python, boa constrictor, anaconda...) etc.. and many other unidentified species of monkeys. shall post up the pictures soon when i get them uploaded. it pays to keep snapping memories! lol. anw, yes the first highlight was the baboons. there were 3 of them. one family, maybe others elsewhere. so we were standing there in the slight drizzle and watching them. and then.. suddenly the mother and father got... intimate? haha. and so on... yep. we were like astounded man! haha everyone was going.. WHOAAAAA... censored man! damn funny la. then the kid came by and they stopped. think the poor innocent kid was shocked and then it ran away, and so the parents sort of continued again. lmao! they should do it in the night la, broad daylight! attracting the prying eyes of visitors. haha. such an experience man! made our eyes sore for the rest of the day... the adventure into the Fragile Forest biodome was pretty enthralling as well... i went in with a brave heart. thinking that it was merely swinging monkeys and fluttering butterflies and flying bats, way above our heads. never to think they were just less than 1m away and all... whoa. got me freaked out. and it was dark and wet. well rainforests are. but it was raining as well. that added on to the whole eerie atmosphere. and kind souls like bob and justin were trying to scare me out of my wits... rawr. :( oh well, it was all in the name of good fun afterall. -digresses- ow... my damn eye hurts. i think its swollen :( i shall stop here and continue soon. bleah. before i go,  my hero! credits; :) Dienstag, Juli 24

11:24 PM for all the times i thought i was self-sufficient, i over-estimated myself. sometimes, depression does sink in, as the clock ticks and your time draws near, you hardly know how to handle the pressure, the anticipation and the hopes placed upon you. i've been wondering why people live their lives for, with the certain hopes and dreams they strive towards. a teacher asked me recently, so what do you plan to do in the future? i was almost dumbfounded. i replied a practical answer, a job in the economic field, its the most realistic. yet deep in my heart, i know that there are circumstances when i aspired to do something self-fulfiling, i.e helping the poor in Africa/Nepal/China etc. then again, i guess its not precisely the time to think too deep into this. thinking too much really hurts. i've been thinking alot when i'm alone (and seriously that happens like 80% of the time)... just random thoughts, flowing by like clouds in the sky, raindrops in the storm... ah... okay other than that Potter's been a blast. fantastic read i managed to complete in 2 days! :D confusions and mishaps, but i shall read mugglenet or something for better clarifications. J.K Rowling is indeed a wonder, blessed by God to create such a magnificent story and plot and blooming every child's wonder in the magical realm, creating sorts which are impossible in real life. yet easy to imagine and... hallucinate! ;) heh. in reel life that is. i can already imagine #7 on big screens! inspired to have movie marathon from 1-5 and book reading camp! hahah. after A's maybe. some really uber cute icons from Potterpuffs (she's back!)   i suppose these arent much of spoilers eh? lol. XD so many things have happened recently... some things happy, some controversial ones stirred inside of me... ah well. short distraction the next 2 days! an unfortunate event
10:45 PM yesterday was horrendous. i bought superglue, well it said UHU glue. so i thought it was the fast-drying-bubbly-blob-thing when exposed to air, but apparently, the tiniest tube one, which i assumed was the latest in the market, isnt. INSTEAD, it was freaking similar to elephant glue! and lo & behold! i tried to punch a hole for the glue to come out and then the whole thing spilled onto my fingers. like all over. the inexperienced me screamed like mad cos i thought my skin was undergoing mass erosion. well, its fine now, thank God. i almost thought i saw my fingerprints getting burnt away, like a snake shedding its beautiful coat. similar to my fingers perspiring glue! yuck! busy, hectic day today. my brain's RAM is running low. pe was great fun, exercised those rotting muscles out. a healthy person is a happy person! no more lethargic feelings! (: mei sang during chapel today as part of saints chorale =) am proud of my mei! :D heh. jiayouuu chapel was enriching, great film to watch soon! freedom writers got me into my argumentative mood about controversial issues! macchiato sundaes. mishaps? II
11:42 PM ok maybe i was exaggerating. OotP wasnt a minor disaster, i forgot the good parts of the film. the effects and cgi were really magnificent (though losing out to transformers!) heh. spielberg is king. :P yes, go for OotP for the effects, i felt like i should do some justice to the film on the whole and not the book. well, after watching "The Making Of OotP" and yeap. i realized the hard work that the effects had to be put through. i guess, the film shouldnt stick fully to the book then, if not it'll be just the book coming to life. twists are needed and hence creating shocks and controversies that people like me would dislike. HAH. oh wells. busy week ahead. so much for looking forward to every weekend. dim sum lunch @ Noble House in Shenton Way with family! :D saw my 3 nieces and cousins. wonderful time being able to reunite with the extended family once again. esp seeing my 90-yr old Grandpa! He's damn zai la. holding his chopsticks much better than the younger generations even! got pictorial proof -- soon! shopping at vivo after that. river island sale :D S-A-L-E. the 4 letter word that makes shopaholics pupils dilate. lol. as usual, i chionged into the shop trying to find good bargains! got a pair of jeans! ^^ yay. and a nice top = 100$. retail therapy + sales = FEELING GOOD. flames to dust, lovers to friends. why do all good things come to an end? 1:17 AM well... the past week has been pretty amazing. ;) heh.  Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenixanyhow, the wonderfully proclaimed OotP was in fact A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. well, like this guy @ imdb said, if you're a sucker for the plot to follow gentle details from the book, then i suggest you shouldn't watch it with the impression that it'll follow the book to a T. HAHAH. it was just released thurs so i shall not spoil it further. nvm! 23's going for the 'film appreciation' at Eng Wah during Learning Fest for another dosage of the lame kissing scenes and more dissing/complementing! HAHA. i was grumbling bout the small little details in the movie to Simino today and she seemed aggrieved that many impt parts went missing. oh well, 138 mins is super freaking short for a Potter film. it does unjust to the book! :( like they said, longest book, shortest film. hah! how ironical. besides that, Learning Fest seems optimistic. 23's going to the zoo! :D yay. class excursion to the zoo. (a cheaper class outing alternative. lmao) i cant wait to go to the zoo la! mum wanted to bring me there in june (or the night safari or underwater world) but i knew it was never gonna happen with our clashing busy schedules. so yes, now's a fantastic opportunity to do so! :D and in the midst of relieving our childhood. we're gonna see how the zoo makes food for the animals! :D cool right! then we're gonna learn about the Rubik's cube thing and yeah some personality profiling course within the school. though Potter #5 was a minor disaster, (im praying #6 would be improved, and hopefully the screenplay would be better...though by the same director) as quoted from wikipedia, lol. all the Davids. heh. i shall try to read the book asap to help drown my disappointment. hah. meeting up the royals for Potter was great though! :D managed to divert my attention from the misgivings of #5 (ok fine, it wasnt THAT bad). had sushi tei for dinner and crapped about all the random stuff again. lol! guess the next time we can meet will be after A's. with prelims looming around at week 9. omgosh! friday the 13th was probably slightly unlucky cos i almost got hit by this falling huge seed from a tree. it was approx. 20cm in length, 8cm in width and 3cm in thickness (it was huge!) and then it fell from this tall tree of about 2 storeys high when i was walking to the other bus stop (near CHIJ Pri) whilst listening to my ipod. amazingly i turned behind to look for oncoming buses and then it dropped, and hit my arm. kinda made a cut there and smashed into 2 upon hittting the concrete pavement (quite a big impact la huh). :S imagine if i had walked straight instead of turning my body to look behind, i'd probably get hit right on the head and just collapse. HAH. it kinda caused searing pain but i just walked forward like nothing happened. and, there were people walking behind too. no altruism was shown in trying to warn me about the damn giganormous seed but oh well. at least im fortunate to be still live and kicking. there's an ugly scar on my arm now. bah, i hope it heals fast. :( Labels: angst, eats, experiences, movie, royals, 感想 Mittwoch, Juli 11

10:14 PM the concerts have ended, and i'd say. the motion has been spoken & personally i feel more inclined to save the environment. i was in the car today thinking... poverty vs. the environment. i'd say the environment would be a issue with increasing gravity in the years to come. well, im not saying that poverty should stop its process of eradication but dont you think, we live on Mother Earth and in time should Mother Earth fail us, where would we be? yes, i've heard stories, scientists have said that Al Gore's spoken 'truths' were in fact inaccurate as it'll be in thousands of years time before all the effects of climate change do take place. but then again, how can one not agree our climate's beginning to change real drastically in recent years, with China's potentially overheated economy and the rise of many other developing countries to follow, have contributed to aggravating the amount of pollution in the air leading to global warming and melting ice caps and much more. not considering the fact that indeed Live Earth had many ironies pegged to it, with gulping power during the concerts, (p.s/ the Sydney concert had their power shut down of awhile with just the PA system on and boy, was it one amazing perfomance by Crowded House carried out in the dark!) and just (yes like less than 1 min ago) on the news, audiences have left rubbish all around the Live Earth concert venues and not erm, following the pledge of recycling waste... (p.p.s/not all, because in Japan [^^] the Japanese have begun doing their part by taking more of public transport and piously segregating the type of waste into different bins) our Earth's future is at our beck and call. hard to explain, but i saw a video during the concerts today, one girl whose eyes began watering while she said that she couldnt imagine her children not being able to see any blue sky, or drink any clean water... it did touch my inner feelings. for the sake of the future generations, if we dont take action now, who will? once again, come on people, its time to save the Earth! on a sidenote, i kinda left the tv on (sorry, sinful against power consumption! D:) and then i awoke at 530am to see Enrique perform! lol my brain sort of switched on this "Find Enrique" alert thing and it just told me to wake up and there he was singing this Spanish song and then Escape! heh. saw the highlights too. 1:04 AM cool date today... 070707 (favourite number! :D) today (well yesterday) was a pretty smooth day, left the house, crossed the road, no55 came and i boarded. dropped at the other bus stop to change to 966. waited less than 5 mins for it. heh. considering 966 takes ages to arrive... i was pretty lucky today. bus journeys are really 1 of a kind to me. the different people in the bus, their facial expressions, the things they do, the actions they make, the conversations they make (sometimes you cant help but eavesdrop =X)... its really cool to just sit down and notice the surroundings around you. sometimes the busied life takes a toll on me, maybe its time to just relieve myself and soak my soul into the world out there, into other people's lives and the way they go about it. funny how bus rides can teach you about the bizzare anecdotes of life. today there was some guy who sat behind me and started tapping the window sill really loudly with his long nails. it kinda got irritating awhile so i plugged in to my ipod. there was this elderly couple carrying many marketing plastic bags who boarded the bus, the husband was so sweet to ensure his wife sat down first and then taking care of his own wellbeing and allowing his groceries to be situated in a safe position. there was another girl with crazy pleats (sp?) in her hair, must have gotten them done in Bangkok or something, and staring into the mirror trying to beautify herself. and then you might say, beauty is only skin deep, in such a materialistic and realistic world we live in, its just so hard to identify what is skin deep and what deems its superficiality. "the wheels on the bus go round and round..." and then you see school children boarding up the bus, some playfully pushing each other and showing off their PSPs or Nintendos in large voices, arrogantly trying to outdo each other's prized possessions. gone were the days where we were stuck in minibuses getting up in the wee hours of the morning just to be the first one to be 'picked up' and then reaching school after the bus has made its usual round of '1st trip' or '2nd trip' as they were called. bus rides can be noisy, or as dead quiet with indivualistic beings going about their own private lives, indulging in their daily dosage of the Straits Times or Today or juveniles luxuriating in their conceited ipods (i do not deny i am not one of them) or the latest tech gadget which would probably cause many jealous pupils to dilate at the sight of it. bus rides are long for me, but somehow, i enjoy them as they go along the streets, allowing me to take some time off busy schedules, and just staring out into the sky and count the trees that go by... 11:48 PM finally got to spend the day out at town albeit some confusing thoughts during the history paper which distracted me, but anyhow it was an eventful day spent! :D travelled to Raffles City with zhentang for some Donut Factory! yummy! tong was there already (thanks man!) so we queued for like 1 hr 15 mins (hahah damn long stoning) before getting our hands on the highly-rated donuts! they are so not over-rated, its really damn yummy cos its not too sweet not too oily and you'll never get sick of them unless you eat 1 dozen in 1 shot la. zhentang bought 3 dozens, tong 2 and i got a pathetic 1. met banana there earlier. she was more pathetic. half a dozen. == queue for so long for half dozen!? haha. sian leh. had to carry my donuts all around orchard... quite irritating especially when the box is like rectangular and people will inevitably knock their legs into it. so, that kinda made me paranoid cos i was so afraid it'll knock into each other or something. haha. went to Asian Kitchen at City Link after that for lunch! the 炸醬面 is pretty nice! so full after that. left shortly later to meet belinda at far east cos i wanted to find my shoes. haha in the end the shop wasnt there anymore! oh man so sad :( mum had agreed to sponsor me previously and now it seems like my shoes have flown away... and then we saw from across the street Mango had sale, so we crossed the road to Shaw. going up the escalator, belinda suddenly said, "eh lets watch a movie" and then at the spur of the moment, we decided to catch this...  TRANSFORMERS!it was a superb movie omg i wouldnt mind watching it again! but just not drinking too much during the movie. haha! if not lubrication would occur. LOL. Bumblebee almost made me cry la! haha i was like trying to calm myself down behind my jacket lol. really, i'd rate it 6/5 stars! it exceeds it man! haha. its Optimus Prime's colours up there. i shall pretend its PURPLY-BLUE. haha. 12:45 PM yay its harry potter and OotP with the royals! :D happy! :)) other than that, life's been pretty sucky while im still in the midst of BT2. rawr. wheeeee! keeps you in eager anticipation! haha i was in the process of fusion-ing yesterday cos enrique iglesias is so burning man! the ping pong thing is so cool la! so unique! love it like mad! haha. :D but the music video is so sad :( albeit being very extraordinary. oh well.
